Today’s Recommendation is a show I started watching this past August, Psych.
Psych follows lifelong best friends Shawn Spencer and Burton “Gus” Guster (played by James Roday and Dulé Hill respectively), who a start a psychic detective agency “Psych”, as they solve cases working for the Santa Barbara Police Department.
In the premiere episode Shawn makes the police think he is a psychic, and gets hired to help on a case. Shawn’s great observational skills allow him to notice things no one else would and make it appear he gathered information about people through a psychic vision. Raised by his father Henry (played by Corbin Bernsen), also a detective, Shawn was always tested on observing things and given lessons by his father that would later help him in solving these cases. In fact, the episodes usually start off with a flashback to when Shawn and Gus were kids, and Shawn learned a lesson from his father, that was relevant to the crime they were solving in that episode.

For my recommendation post today, I decided to go with a show I just started watching recently, but have really enjoyed so far, and that is Supernatural.
I was hesitant to try the show at first, but after reading some thoughts about it, I decided to give it a shot. I’m glad I did. While watching the show, you begin to think, ‘this is on the CW?’. It doesn’t fit for me with the other shows I’ve seen on that channel. The only other show on the CW I’ve watched and really liked was Veronica Mars, but that’s another post for another time.

After talking about Battlestar yesterday, today I decided to go with another show on the Sci-Fi channel I started watching a couple months ago. It’s called Eureka, now in its 3rd season on the Sci-Fi Channel, the first 2 seasons have been released on DVD. I am in the middle of the 2nd season right now and I think it is a great show.
Eureka is about a town named, rightly so, Eureka, and its a place where the worlds greatest minds gather to study and come up with scientific devices and experiments only possible with such a great gathering of minds. The problem, and one of the key ideas of the show, is though some will go right, with the advanced science going on, there’s going to be a lot of things that end up badly, sometimes very badly.

One thing I want to do with this blog, along with posting deals, is to give some recommendations of TV shows, movies, or anime I’ve seen and really liked. So this is the first in a series of those posts. I will always try to keep my recommendations free of spoilers.
I started watching Battlestar Galactica (the 2004 version, I haven’t seen the original series) like I do many shows, on DVD, after it’s already aired. I didn’t really know much about it, but I was looking at some new TV shows to start, and after reading some reviews, I was interested in find out more about this show. I read about it, and not having that many real Sci-Fi shows in my collection, I decided to give it a try. So I ordered the first season with the miniseries.
